Aquarium care
White Cloud Mountain minnows are hardy, peaceful schooling cyprinids that prefer cooler water than most tropical community fish and often thrive without a heater. Provide a planted tank of at least ~54 L (14 US gal) with open swimming space and gentle flow; keep a group of six or more (ideally 10+) so they remain confident and display. Offer flakes/nano pellets plus occasional live or frozen microfoods (daphnia, baby brine shrimp). Avoid permanent high heat—long-term warmth shortens lifespan.
Feeding
Micropredator in nature (insects, zooplankton). In aquaria accept quality flakes and granules with some plant/algal content; condition with bloodworm, Daphnia, and Artemia.
Compatibility
Very peaceful community fish if tankmates share cooler preferences (small danios, shrimp, cooler killifish). Not ideal with goldfish despite frequent store pairing. Males may lightly spar; denser planting and larger groups reduce squabbling.
