Natural habitat

The Golden Mbuna (Melanochromis auratus) is endemic to the rocky shorelines of Lake Malawi in Africa. They thrive in areas characterized by high mineral content and alkaline water due to the local stream inflow and evaporation patterns. The species primarily occupies the rocky zones in the southern part of the lake.
